29th June -5th July 2020 is National Additional Needs Awareness week.
We get asked all the time, what is Additional Needs?
Additional Needs is when a person needs additional support or/and services, which enables them to fully engage in all aspects of their life.
Additional Needs can be development disorders, medical conditions, a disability or mental health issues, all which can be a lifetime condition. Additional Needs can also be temporary, for example, due to a change in circumstances.
Everyone at some point in their lives can have Additional Needs, we are using this week to spread awareness and hopefully break the stigmas and myths. No two humans are the same, we are all different and these differences need to be celebrated and accepted.
